Labour wasting Council Tax Payers’ money
November 25th, 2007 by David FosterLabour perverting Council Rules
Liberal Democrat Leader and Deputy Leader of the Council Cllr David Foster has criticised Labour councillors for misusing the Council’s constitution and wasting Council Tax Payers’ money.Labour Councillors have called an extraordinary Council Meeting to oppose the ruling Partnership’s proposals to create a new town centre community festival which brings together different cultures. Cllr Foster explained, Labour have every right to question the decision, but the correct procedure would be to ask for a Call-In where the decision can be examined in more detail and with a greater opportunity for further questioning. The Extraordinary Council Meeting has no powers to reverse the decision, therefore it will be a waste of time and money costing in excess of £3,000.Cllr Foster added that Labour has still not learnt how to be a responsible opposition.
